Abortion: Is It Really A Choice?

It's pretty hard to be objective. We all base our opinions on our experiences, beliefs, faith, or whatever it is that guides our moral compass. We love to place ourselves in these situations. At times, this is necessary, but when it hinders our ability to empathise, we must realise that we need to take a step back.

It's not about whether or not you would have an abortion. It's not about whether or not you think it's right or wrong. To be pro-life, is to be pro-life to what end?

When bodies are being shot by bullets on a daily basis. When future lives are being put in jeopardy based on our current practices, to what end are you pro-life?

There is this crazy perception that women just walk up in to abortion clinics, have an abortion and then just leave and carry on with the rest of their lives. But for many women, it is not that easy. In the midst of this discussion, those who deem themselves pro-life have overlooked the importance of empathy. The emotional, mental and physical pain that women experience after having abortions shows that it is not a choice that they would willingly choose to make. You need to understand the reasons why this was her choice before taking this very choice away.

To take away a woman's choice is to take away her freedom. Criminalising abortion will inevitably drive many women in to unsafe situations.
