What a Time to be Alone

It's not always easy to find self-worth in a world that seems obsessed with telling us we're not good enough. But you're doing just fine: let Chidera Eggerue, the unstoppable force behind the groundbreaking #SAGGYBOOBSMATTER movement, tell you why.

Chidera's Peckham upbringing was peppered with Igbo proverbs from her Nigerian mum, encouraging everything from a true understanding of your own abilities ('to pee is not hard, but a chicken cannot do it') to the dangers of blindly following others ('when the rat follows the lizard out into the rain, it's the rat that gets soaked'). Her raw honesty and fearless attitude has attracted a dedicated audience online who know her as The Slumflower.

Now in her debut book, What a Time to be Alone, Chidera collects these poetic Igbo sayings and her own original artwork into one volume, along with short essays on everything from bad friends to being loved, making it the perfect handbook for modern life.

Chidera plays the role of life guru, confidante and best friend, using a three-part approach filled with sass, wisdom and charm.

1. Learn how to celebrate YOU - decide self-worth, take time to heal and empower yourself in this messy world.

2. Don't worry about THEM - avoid other people's demons and realise that everyone is protecting themselves from something - no matter how aggressive their method.

3. Feel the togetherness in US - sustain and grow healthy relationships and avoid toxicity in your friendships.

Find empowerment in your solitude, take charge of your life and get ready to meet your truest self with #WATTBA.

The book is available to purchase from via Amazon and all good bookstores.
