Moving On...

It's the song that we were all waiting for but didn't quite realise that we needed. Music is a crazy/powerful thing. Some of the greatest songs that we listen to were birthed out a painful time in the artist's life. It's production is a product of their healing.

There is no denying that the past few years have been a whirlwind for Ariana Grande, she went through more than many of us will go through in a lifetime. I'm not going to get caught up in a game of Top Trumps: Pain Edition; pain, loss, heartbreak, death are all things that break away at us.

I probably had the song on repeat for a day after first hearing it. So I thought it best to write about it.

When she moved on to the second verse, she silenced us all. We were probably all wondering how she could move on so quickly when it all seemed so new and so fresh. It was as if she was speaking to us through the speakers as she acknowledged our reservations but then went on to sing about how she found herself through it all. That's what makes this song so powerful.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but I love to occupy myself and keep myself busy to distract myself from how it is that I truly feel. Sometimes, facing what is wrong is the last thing on my to-do list. Dealing with it all seems too big of a task; I defer, I delay, I distance myself from it all.

Strangely enough, I am starting to see the beauty in finding yourself in it all. Moving on, doesn't mean moving on to someone new. It doesn't mean making yourself so busy. It means that you take some time to: explore who you are, what you love and find yourself in the silence. Find yourself in the midst of chaos. Taking a step back from it all and deciphering what it is that you want and where you want to go. Acknowledging that you have been hurt and deciding to keep going, if it means going in a different direction than the one that was already planned, then so be it.

Reflect. Self-reflect on who you are because once you do, you will realise just how amazing you are.

Thank u, next.
